Medal of Honor: Frontline Original Soundtrack

This sound track has been out for quite a while now, but I thought that I’d write a review for this soundtrack. This soundtrack showcases Michael Giacchino at his greatest. For those who don’t know, Michael Giacchino is a film and game composer who has wrote scores to some of America’s most popular TV shows, video games, and films such as Mission: Impossible III, Alias, and The Medal of Honor series just to name a few. More information about Michael can be found here or his website here .
Medal of Honor: Frontline is a video game by EA Games where the player takes on the first person roll of a character named Jimmy Patterson. The player starts on the beach of Normandy and constantly hit with action to the end of the game. More about this game can be found here.
The soundtrack is just as exhilarating as the game itself! It makes use of the lower instruments, especially the low brass to really give an impression of power and all things, for lack of a better word, “war like.” The soundtrack is also well balanced with some slower tracks as well that give an angelic and divine feeling to the listener. This soundtrack is also recorded digitally rather than Michael’s preference of recording his scores with traditional analog techniques. The digital quality is great and brings a whole new depth to Michael’s work. This is one of the few things that I can not really find anything I disliked about the soundtrack. So…
That said, this is one of the few things that I will give a full 5/5 score to. Great job Michael! Keep doing what you do best!

True Tears オリジナルサウンドトラック

It’s been about a little over a week since the soundtrack was released for the anime “True Tears.” I was feeling lucky before the release date and spent the 30 USD plus 10 USD shipping fee to have the soundtrack sent to me. I received it to my surprise on the day it was released, which was a total surprise for me since I thought I would get it about three days after the release date since I live on the other side of the world. Anyway, I feel it was money well spent. The tracks are beautiful, my favorite being track 19 entitled: ” 一陣の風 (Ichijin no Kaze) .” 菊地創 did a great job with this soundtrack and I encourage you to buy a copy for yourself and take a listen.
Where I bought it: CD Japan
This is probably your safest bet if you’re importing the CD. Also, make sure that you get the EMS shipping. I’ve heard stories about getting this almost a year later or getting lost in the mail.

Synapse:
… on that blindingly bright day …
… on that very day of winter …
Imagine what it would be like to have your entire life — your friends, your family, your interests, your loves, your hatreds, your future — all taken away from you in a single instant. Imagine a hard, lumpy bed, a noise-filled ward, the sharp sting of needles entering your flesh at all hours of the day, the indignity of being woken up just as you are about to fall asleep for incessant vital statistics measurements, the doctors whose names you don’t know (but that’s okay, because they don’t remember your name, either; they just remember you as “the non-small cell lung carcinoma in room 6″), and your own name, your very own name, that you have just about forgotten.
Then you might have some clue as to what it is like to be dying in a hospital.
This is a story of disease and suffering; of medication and adverse effects; of thoracotomy scars and cellular poisons; of the living who cannot help but to die and of the dying who cannot help but to live; of a resting place other than “on 7F” or “at home”.
This is a story of so many things.
But most of all …
This is the story
of a girl whose heart was standing still
and a boy whose breath was being stolen away,
both of whom die.
(from http://narcissu.insani.org/story.html)
It has taken me a while, but I have finally finished reading this. It turned out to be a pretty decent story, though towards the end it felt a little rushed and the details of the story seemed to lack. In my mind, this story has good potential, but more detail would fit this better. The art was also not as active as I would have liked it to be, but it served it’s purpose. I’m looking forward to reading “Narcissu – Side 2″ when the release comes out.
Overall I’d give this a 3/5
